every boy needs a pocket knife

this morning the boys asked me if i would take them to skiatook to have lunch at ron's.  they LOVE that place!  so i told them if they got their chores done and any other thing i asked them to do, then we'd go.  not only did they get everything done in record time, they actually worked together...cooperated....got along....helped each other!  that in itself was worth a trip to skiatook.

i took the non-highway route home and ended up in ochelata again.  there's nothing there really, but an antique store that has never been open.  that is, until today. woo hoo!  i've been dying to go in there because it looked like it would have some good stuff in it.  most of what the owner had was pottery and glassware, not exactly what i was looking for, but the man was super-nice!  he talked with the boys and talked to me about antiques and how he finds them.  spencer spotted a pocket knife in one of the cases, but we couldn't see the price tag.  the man was having a hard time prying the case open so i asked him how much it cost before he went to all the trouble getting it open.

he said, "oh, 2 or 3 dollars."  so i said that was ok.  he finally got the case open, pulled out the knife and i saw him make a face when he looked at the price tag.  spencer asked him how much it really cost, and the man said, "3 dollars."

i asked if he was sure, and he just smiled and said, "it is now.  every boy needs a pocket knife."

how sweet is that?  i will definitely be going back to his store!

tonight we had a praise and worship seminar taught by keith lancaster.  it was awesome!  acappella music is so beautiful, and he taught us ways to make our worship even more meaningful and praising to god.  it didn't even seem like we sang for 2 hours!  i can't wait until worship tomorrow morning!

  1. Oh! That sounds fun! Now I know why you texted me that we need a day for antiquing/junking again! Junking is really more descriptive for what we do, isn't it? LOL! It looks like a fun place to poke around. I can only imagine the treasures! And junk! Wooo Hooooo!!!! I wish I had gone with you.

Also, that seminar with Keith Lancaster looked amazing. I would love to have gone. Why do weekends have to be so short?
