it's all good

welcome to my 3rd blog!  apparently i put too many pictures on my blog, and i keep filling up the space!  so that's why i have a new blog, and i even gave it a new name....it's all good. i say this a lot, i've noticed.  it reminds of the verse in romans 8:28.
"and we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them"

see!  it's all good!

here's what's been going on in my world this past week:

tuesday was just a normal day.

i had my first weigh-in at weight watchers, and i'm thrilled to say that i lost 4.6 pounds the first week!  woo hoo!

i didn't have a picture of the day, so i thought it was time for some smudge pictures!  he was trying to go to sleep and i just kept taking pictures.  he didn't like the flash!  poor, smudgie!

open your eyes, smudgie!

are we done yet?
wednesday was another day closer to spring break!  the kids were getting more excited by the minute. (their teachers were, too!)  one of my sweet kiddos brought me a daisy that morning, and it just made my day.

"i love daisies. they're so friendly. don't you think
daisies are the friendliest flower?"
wednesday night at church i noticed that it was REALLY loud in the gym before bible class started.  and you know what?  all that noise made me smile.  the gym was full of kids who are full of life. love it!

thursday night i had parent/teacher conferences until 7:00.  all of the conferences went really well because i have great kids and parents.  god really blessed me this year.

my photo of the day is lame!  i admit it.  i totally forgot to take a picture.  i was exhausted and in bed when i realized i hadn't taken a picture.  so i looked on my nightstand to see if there was anything to photograph.  i found a pencil that had come home from school tucked behind my ear.  i tend to bring a lot of pens and pencils home that way!  that's part of who i am.  you never know when you're going to need to write something, so why not have a writing utensil right there ready to use?

ticonderoga is the best pencil!
i also had conferences from 8:00-12:00 on friday.  those went well also.  between conferences i was glued to my computer watching the news from the earthquake and tsunami that hit japan.  so sad.  my heart was, and still is, hurting for those people.

when i got home i was full of energy for some weird reason.  maybe it was because i was officially on spring break, and the weather was gorgeous!

the boys tried to plop down in the house and play video games, but i kicked them out!  i told them to go play outside.  i got busy cleaning the kitchen and rearranging the living room.  a while later i looked out the back door and this is what i saw:

video game playing varmints!
the nerds took their game devices outside and plopped down in lawn chairs to play!  ugh.  that's not what i meant!  i guess i should be more specific in my instructions! :)  i didn't say anything to them.  i just took a picture and went back to cleaning.

i HATE dog hair.
that night we went to owasso for dinner and to do a little shopping.  spencer needed jeans so we went to old navy.  while daryl and spencer were finding jeans, colby and i played with all the fun stuff they have at the front of the store.  they even have bunny ears and lunch boxes!  so fun!

there's just something about a smurf lunchbox that's smurfy.
saturday daryl and i had a saturday lunch date and a trip to wal-mart.  it's so romantic, i know.  try not to be jealous.  after we unloaded all the groceries, spencer and i thought we needed to reorganize the pantry.  so we did.  it's much better now!

sunday night i had a weak moment and agreed to help colby organize his pokemon cards.  sheesh!  that was a chore.  it took a couple of hours!

i love the way his lips are sticking out!  so cute.

pokemon power!

yesterday (monday) i slept in late, and it was so nice!  then i snuggled with smudge for a while.
you can see his little teeth!
the boys kept hounding me to go do something, so i gave them the option of a movie or bowling.  they chose bowling.  we rented a lane for 2 hours and they bowled the entire time!  they were on the 10th frame of their 6th game when the lane was turned off.  bummer.

spencer finally figured out that he really can bowl, and he ended up beating me!  big bummer!

i got to use my awesome bowling ball that i bought for $5 at a junk sale on the back of a trailer!  it looks like a giant marble rolling down the lane!

awesome ball in action
i thought that our bowling trip was going to be the highlight of my day, but i should have known better.

as i was cooking supper, smudge trotted in the kitchen carrying an OPEN, EMPTY bottle of allergy medicine in his mouth.  it had dirt all over it, so i knew he had been outside with it.  i also knew that spencer just opened that bottle 2 days ago, and that meant there should have been 43 pills in that bottle.

we looked everywhere for the lid and the pills, and we couldn't find them.  i called one of the local vet's office on their emergency line.  the lady that answered took my name and number and said she'd have the vet call me.  i waited 20 minutes and still hadn't heard from a vet.  i was worried that smudge had eaten those pills and was going to die any minute!
i called our old vet and friend from tulsa and told him what had happened. he told me that if he had eaten the pills, it wouldn't be enough to send him to doggie heaven. (that was a huge relief). he also said we had to make smudge vomit to see if the pills were in his stomach.
we had 2 options:
     1.  give him 1-3 teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide and then give him water
     2.  give him 1-3 teaspoons of table salt and then give him water
we chose option number 1.  daryl wasn't home, so spencer held smudge in his lap and pried his mouth open while i poured the peroxide in.  i can't even begin to describe the look on poor smudgie's face.  if dogs could cry, i think he would have been crying because of what i did to him.

we locked him in the courtyard with a bowl of water, and it wasn't long before he was puking.  poor little guy.  i checked 3 piles of vomit and didn't find any pills.

pet emergency

today the boys found the lid to that bottle and 37 of the pills behind the cushion of the couch!  smudge must have been on top of the couch when the bottle opened and most of them fell down where he couldn't get them.  thank goodness!  now i really feel bad for force-feeding him peroxide to make him puke.

as i was sitting here updating my blog, colby came by and asked what i was doing.  since i hadn't taken a picture for today, i just snapped one of him!

quote of the day: "good!  you lost 3.8 pounds this week!" ~ the lady who weighed me at weight watchers today!  woo hoo!  (total weight loss so far is 8.4.  yay!)
